A New Chapter for the Defensive Line
Yvan Kemajou arrived at Penn State as a highly touted four‑star recruit from Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, Maryland. At 6‑3 and 254 pounds, the Maryland native earned national attention as the No. 21 defensive lineman and No. 188 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
During his freshman season, Kemajou logged 238 defensive snaps, ranking fourth among teammates with five tackles for loss and delivering 1.5 sacks and 10 pressures per Pro Football Focus. His production translated into a 41‑snap appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl, a moment that underscored his growing importance.
The departure of a key predecessor opened the door for a larger role, and Kemajou seized the opportunity, averaging roughly 26 snaps per game early in the season before his workload expanded further. Head coach Matt Campbell praised the sophomore’s potential, describing his ability as “as high as anybody we’ve coached.”
Alongside veterans such as Max Granville and Chaz Coleman, Kemajou is positioned to reinforce Penn State’s defensive tradition. The coaching staff views him as a cornerstone of the 2026 line, continuing a lineage that has produced standout EDGE rushers for the program.
