Preseason Outlook
The MAC Freedom conference released its preseason poll, placing the DeSales University women's soccer team sixth overall with 32 points, a result derived from votes cast by eight conference head coaches.
Misericordia University topped the poll with 61 points and five first‑place votes, while Stevens University followed in second with 60 points and four top votes, setting the stage for a competitive season.
Building on Last Year
DeSales entered the poll after a 2025 campaign that yielded a 4‑9‑3 record and a 2‑4‑1 mark within the MAC Freedom, a modest improvement that coach Melina Couzis hopes to translate into more wins.
The Bulldogs’ offense showed promise, with senior Catherine Crampton leading the scoring charts at three goals and two assists, while junior Campbell Pacheco anchored the defense, posting a 2.16 goals‑against average and a .735 save percentage across 15 appearances.
Key Returners and New Additions
Alongside Crampton and Pacheco, returning attackers Avery Lane and Emily Mulroony each contributed three goals, and sophomores Hallie Murphy and Caitlyn Wnek combined for 29 starts, providing depth and experience.
The roster will welcome 14 newcomers, including 13 first‑year students, injecting fresh talent as the team prepares for its opening fixtures.
Season Opener and Early Schedule
DeSales will begin the 2026 campaign with home matches against Bryn Mawr College on September 2 and Stockton University on September 26, the latter serving as Homecoming. Their first conference showdown arrives on October 3 at FDU‑Florham, a matchup that could influence early standings.
With a blend of seasoned leaders and promising newcomers, the Bulldogs aim to climb beyond sixth place and contend for a higher finish in the MAC Freedom.
