A New Era for Cowgirl Coaching
Oklahoma State's women's basketball program announced the addition of Durmon Jennings to its coaching staff, a move that signals the university's intent to bolster its roster with experienced talent. Jennings, who most recently served as an associate coach at North Texas, brings a track record of success that includes five seasons in which his teams posted double‑digit conference wins.
During his six‑year stint at North Texas, Jennings helped the Mean Green capture the 2024 American Conference regular‑season championship and develop players who earned All‑Conference recognition. Among those he mentored were Megan Nestor, who emerged as the NCAA's leading rebounder, and Tommisha Lampkin, the program's all‑time leader in rebounds and double‑doubles.
Jennings' influence extends beyond the college ranks. He previously spent two seasons as associate head coach at Eastern New Mexico University, where he contributed to the second‑highest win total in program history. His coaching journey also includes stints at various high schools, youth leagues, and an internship with the NBA Summer League, as well as administrative work at UNLV.
A graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a bachelor's degree in sports management and a master's in sports administration from Eastern New Mexico, Jennings combines academic insight with practical experience. He and his wife, Hiwot, are parents to two daughters, Gabrielle and Gianna, who will likely grow up watching their father shape the next generation of Cowgirls.
Jacie Hoyt, a key figure in the program, expressed enthusiasm about the hire, noting Jennings' strong work ethic and passion for player development. The university hopes his recruiting background and ability to attract talent will translate into continued growth on the national stage.
