A fatal accident unfolded early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 in Caroline County, Virginia, when a 2011 Honda CRV driven by 22‑year‑old Preston Korytkowski collided with a semi‑truck that had been disabled on the shoulder.
Korytkowski, a native of Rockford, Michigan, was a defenseman and captain of the Michigan State University Division II hockey team. He was pronounced dead at the scene, his passenger escaping with only minor injuries.
State police reported that the semi‑truck, traveling northbound, had become disabled due to a mechanical issue. As the driver attempted to move the vehicle, it was struck from behind by Korytkowski’s CRV, causing the truck to become fully immobilized and blocking traffic for several hours.
