A Legacy of Service
The Lower Merion Youth Football Clinic, founded in 2010 to commemorate Dr. Joseph W. Foote, has become a cornerstone of community service for the township.
The 2026 edition of the co‑ed clinic was organized by a coalition that included Head Coach Joe Augustine, LM Athletics staff, and Principal Mike Johnson, while Narberth Athletic Association President Melissa O’Connor managed online registration each year.
Upgraded helmets, a state‑of‑the‑art weight room and speed‑conditioning sessions have attracted more local athletes, building on the program’s long tradition of offering community service and senior project opportunities for varsity players since 2008.
All proceeds are directed to the Lower Merion Township Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) established in 1964 that provides post‑secondary scholarships to graduating seniors from Lower Merion and Harriton High Schools who face financial barriers.
The 2026 fundraiser received donations from attorney John Pumphrey, Mrs. Susie Foote, Joseph A. Foote, DMD, MD, Edward L. Woehling, DDS, Catherine M. Foote, DMD, and Jim Brown of the Narberth Athletic Association, as well as in‑kind contributions from Brett Strohsacker, who supplied branded gear bags and water bottles, and Mark Williams of Jellen Designs, who silk‑screened clinic shirts at cost.
Beyond the financial impact, the clinic reinforces mentorship and leadership among student‑athletes, strengthening ties between the township’s schools, families, and local businesses while honoring the legacy of Dr. Joseph W. Foote and his three sons who once played for Lower Merion High School.
