Preseason Dominance
Elon's men's soccer program entered the 2026 campaign as the clear favorite in the CAA South, capturing nine first‑place votes and a total of 45 points — the highest tally in the conference. The Phoenix finished the previous season as champions, and the momentum carried into the preseason poll, signaling strong expectations from coaches and peers alike.
The preseason All‑CAA team features several returning standouts. Sophomore defender Magnus Jacobsen, who logged 1,243 minutes and made 12 starts in 2025, earned his first career goal in a CAA Tournament semifinal. Junior midfielder Weston Jonke returns for his second season with the program, having accumulated 1,584 minutes and contributed assists in both tournament victories.
Senior forward Martin Kozak emerged as the offensive engine for the Phoenix, leading the team in goals, assists and points throughout 2025. His performance earned him the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player award and a spot on the Hermann Trophy watch list, underscoring his national relevance.
Redshirt junior forward Dominik Renz made history as the first-ever CAA Rookie of the Year for Elon. He contributed four game‑winning goals and added assists in the tournament, helping the team clinch the championship.
Midfielder Ben Madore will make his Elon debut in 2026 after three seasons at Penn State, where he appeared in 31 matches and scored five goals. His arrival adds depth and experience to a midfield that already boasts Jonke and Jacobsen.
The season officially begins on Thursday, 2026, when Elon hosts VMI at Rudd Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., marking the start of what many expect to be a competitive campaign for the defending champions.
