A New Chapter for the No. 48
Connor Zilisch, the 20‑year‑old prodigy from Trackhouse Racing, has inked a multiyear agreement that will see him take the wheel of the legendary No. 48 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series beginning in 2028.
Zilisch, who currently sits 34th in the Cup standings with eight DNFs to his name, will transition from his current ride to the flagship program at Hendrick Motorsports, replacing Alex Bowman, who announced his retirement at the close of the 2027 season.
Rick Hendrick, the patriarch of Hendrick Motorsports, described the rookie as “a gifted young racer with the right blend of talent and character,” emphasizing that Zilisch’s potential aligns with the team’s long‑term vision.
The No. 48 car will continue its partnership with Ally, the financial services firm that has served as the primary sponsor since 2019, ensuring continuity for a program that fans associate with both tradition and innovation.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Zilisch said he is eager to “contribute to the racing legacy” of Hendrick Motorsports and to “bring the same passion and determination” that earned him his early successes.
