The University of Northern Iowa’s Huskie Athletics department is gearing up for a busy week as multiple teams begin their 2026 campaigns.
The women’s soccer squad opens its home schedule on Sunday, August 23, welcoming Northern Iowa to the campus field at 2 p.m., a match that also showcases standout returnees such as Mckenna Campbell‑Turkalj, Abby Foulk and goalkeeper Alexandra Devory, who recorded 11 saves in the season opener.
Meanwhile, the men’s soccer team travels to face Butler on Thursday, August 20, at 4 p.m., before returning to action on Sunday, August 23, at 1 p.m. against Loyola Chicago, where new head coaches Ian Sarachan and Kevin Robson will make their debuts for the visiting programs.
Volleyball's Paid Exhibition
The volleyball program adds a paid exhibition match to its slate, hosting Illinois State on Saturday, August 22, at 2 p.m., providing fans with an early glimpse of the roster that will compete throughout the season.
Looking Ahead to the Horizon League
The men’s soccer team is slated to finish third in the upcoming Under Armour Horizon League preseason poll, a projection that reflects both the program’s recent success — an 8‑5‑4 record and a share of the Missouri Valley Conference title in 2025 — and the optimism surrounding the new coaching staff. The regular season will officially begin with the Southern Indiana Invitational on August 28‑29, marking the start of a schedule that promises competitive matchups across the conference.
