A Prestigious Honor Returns to the Pitch
The award, now in its seventh year, recognizes the most outstanding girl in high school soccer across the WPIAL, a league renowned for producing top talent and fostering future collegiate stars.
A committee of organizers, coaches and media members reviews performances throughout the season to compile a watch list of 41 players, blending seniors, juniors and sophomores who have made a marked impact on the field.
Tradition dictates that the winner will be announced after the PIAA championships in November, adding a ceremonial climax to the high school season and heightening anticipation among teams and fans alike.
The honor is named for Kaitlyn ‘Moe’ Rosensteel, a standout player from Ringgold who passed away in 2019, serving as a lasting tribute to her spirit and achievements on and off the field.
Emily McKee of Fox Chapel, the 2019 champion, returns for her senior season with the ambition of joining an exclusive list of two‑time winners, a feat that would underscore her sustained excellence and leadership.
Past recipients such as Molly Kubistek, Lola Abraham, Hailey Longwell, Kelsey Salopek, Sarah Schupansky and Ellie Coffield illustrate the award’s role in spotlighting emerging stars who often continue their careers at institutions like West Virginia Wesleyan College.
