A 22‑year‑old Michigan State University hockey captain was killed on Saturday afternoon after his car collided with a semi‑truck that had been forced off Interstate 95 in Caroline County, Virginia.
Preston Korytkowski, who led the university’s Division 2 club hockey team, was driving when his vehicle struck the disabled semi‑truck that had pulled onto the shoulder shortly after 3:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi‑truck driver, who suffered only minor injuries, was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Authorities have not released his name.
Investigation Underway
Investigators from the Virginia Department of Transportation and local law enforcement are reviewing dash‑cam footage and interviewing witnesses. They have asked anyone with additional information to come forward.
