A Rematch with History
The Vidalia Indians are set to square off against Gordon Lee in the GHSA 1A Division 1 baseball state championship series, with the first game scheduled for Friday in Columbus, Georgia.
It marks a rematch of last season’s final four, when Gordon Lee clinched the title in a decisive Game 3, and gives Vidalia an opportunity to avenge that loss and add a fourth state championship to its storied history.
Head Coach Ben Beck, who has guided the team through a season of growth, said the prospect of facing the squad that eliminated them last year adds a palpable sense of motivation to the clubhouse.
Senior pitcher Veer Patel, whose experience from the previous campaign has sharpened his focus, will take the mound for Game 1, with the first pitch slated for 11 a.m., and is eager to translate that preparation into a strong start.
The series will continue with Game 2 on Friday, and a potential Game 3 on Saturday if needed, giving both teams a chance to showcase their depth and resilience.
