A Week of Power
In a four‑game stretch that began on August 10, Cesarini compiled a .474 batting average, launching six homers and driving in 11 runs. The centerpiece came in the opener against the Altoona Curve, where he smashed three consecutive long balls, including a two‑run shot in the fifth and a three‑run blast in the seventh, propelling Akron to a 16‑1 victory.
The following night he added a solo homer in the third inning, extending Akron’s lead to 3‑0 before the Curve rallied for a 4‑3 win. Two days later, on August 14, he delivered two more homers, the first a leadoff drive that cleared the roller‑coaster track, and a second that capped a three‑run second inning, sealing a 7‑1 triumph.
From Lake County to the Eastern League
Cesarini’s surge is not a flash in the pan. Since his promotion from High‑A Lake County on July 13, he has batted .385 over 78 at‑bats, adding eight homers, seven doubles, and 22 RBIs while stealing six bases on seven attempts. He has now reached base in 17 of his last 21 games and sits on an eight‑game hitting streak.
His hot streak coincides with Akron’s seven‑game winning run, a stretch that was snapped only when Altoona posted a 12‑3 victory on August 15. Even in that loss, Cesarini managed two hits, underscoring his consistency.
Managers and scouts alike are watching the young outfielder’s development closely, noting that his blend of power and speed could make him a cornerstone for the RubberDucks as they push for a playoff berth.
