Jordan Shipp emerged as the clear fan favorite for Most Valuable Player, earning 38.5 percent of the vote despite the team’s 4‑8 record a year earlier. His leadership is seen as a cornerstone for a unit that struggled offensively in 2025.
Close behind, defensive standout Melkart Abou Jaoude secured 33.4 percent of MVP votes. The sophomore’s 10.5 sacks in his debut season have already sparked talk of a disruptive front line.
Among newcomers, Peyton Seelmann was crowned the top freshman prospect, receiving 25 percent of the vote. The transfer’s 120 tackles in FCS competition have raised expectations that he will anchor the defense.
Fans also weighed in on the quarterback position, with Billy Edwards Jr. collecting 40.4 percent support to become the likely starter. The former Big Ten standout, who overcame a knee injury, is viewed as the most promising signal‑caller heading into the fall.
