The Memphis metro area is buzzing with anticipation as the 2025 girls soccer season draws to a close and teams prepare for the state tournament in Chattanooga later this October. Coaches, teammates and fans alike are celebrating a crop of talent that has not only posted impressive statistics but also helped their squads advance deep into the playoffs.
Briarcrest’s Ella Magee anchored the defense while contributing 11 goals and six assists from the fullback position, showcasing a rare blend of offensive flair and defensive reliability. Midfielder Addy Knowles matched that productivity with 11 goals and five assists, underscoring the Saints’ balanced attack.
Defender Ansley Harman started every match for Briarcrest and added a goal and an assist, embodying the consistency that helped the team maintain a strong defensive record. Across town, Collierville’s Caroline Anglin led the Dragons with 15 goals and six assists, guiding them to the Class AAA state semifinals.
Sophie Cogan earned all‑state honors for Collierville, tallying 14 goals and four assists, while goalkeeper Gennesis Morales posted eight shutouts, highlighted by a 4‑0 victory over Siegel in the quarterfinal round.
Eagles captain Ellen Mills closed the season at 14‑6, and fellow Eagle Molly Furhman was recognized as a TSWA all‑state goalkeeper, steering the team to the Division II‑A state title game. Houston’s Scarlett Cowles exploded for 23 goals and 16 assists, propelling the Mustangs to the Class AAA title match, while defender Josie Parker finished with a 16‑6‑2 record and earned TSWA all‑state honors.
Other standout performances include Sloane Hardin, a UT Martin commit who contributed four goals and six assists for Hutchison, and Sophia Pater, who paced Lakeland Prep with 18 goals and seven assists to capture the District 14‑AA crown. Isabella Pizzimenti of Lausanne recorded 20 goals and six assists in just 15 matches, and Elle Weathersby emerged as an all‑state midfielder with 22 goals and 11 assists, leading St. George’s to a Division II‑A state championship.
Defensive stalwart Callie Turner helped St. George’s concede only 20 goals in 21 matches, rounding out a season filled with elite talent. As these players gear up for the state competition in Chattanooga, the Memphis area’s reputation as a hotbed of high school soccer continues to strengthen.
