LSU Shreveport announced this week that Nicholas Carmouche Jr., a South Louisiana native, has joined the women's basketball program as an assistant coach under head coach Deacon Jones. The addition comes as the Pilots prepare for another competitive season in the Red River Athletic Conference.
A Versatile Coaching Resume
Carmouche's career has woven together experience at the NCAA Division I level, local high schools and elite AAU circuits. Most recently, he served as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at Cleveland State, where he oversaw recruiting, player development and NCAA compliance for the 2025‑26 academic year.
Before his stint in Cleveland, Carmouche honed his craft at Carencro High School in Louisiana, balancing teaching duties with coaching responsibilities. He also guided the AAU program Higher Ground in Lafayette, focusing on individual skill development and team systems, and previously contributed to John Melvin University's recruiting efforts.
Program Momentum and Future Goals
The Pilots have established a strong presence in the Red River Athletic Conference, capturing three straight regular‑season and tournament titles and routinely securing postseason berths. Carmouche's arrival is expected to deepen the roster's talent pool and enhance strategic preparation as the team aims to extend its championship streak.
Deacon Jones expressed confidence that Carmouche's blend of recruiting acumen, player development focus and operational expertise will complement the program's winning culture. "We're excited to welcome a coach who understands both the competitive landscape and the local talent pipeline," Jones said in the announcement.
