The Florida Panthers, together with star forward Matthew Tkachuk, are set to host the inaugural Matthew Tkachuk Cup in Fort Lauderdale from September 4 through September 6.
The three‑day event will feature a Boys’ AAA and Girls’ AA youth tournament that is offered free of charge, alongside a lineup of family‑friendly activities.
On Saturday, participants can join live conversations with Tkachuk and other hockey personalities, take part in skating sessions, and enjoy an open‑skating window from noon until 4:30 p.m.
Tkachuk’s vision for South Florida hockey
‘Growing the game in South Florida is a priority for me,’ Tkachuk said, emphasizing community engagement and youth development.
The celebration will also include giveaways, team mascots and a performance by a local dance troupe, all aimed at attracting families and hockey fans.
The cup is part of the Panthers’ offseason agenda, which includes free‑agency negotiations, rookie camp, training camp and the first preseason games beginning September 20.
Looking ahead, the 2026‑27 NHL season will open with Florida taking on the Carolina Hurricanes on September 29 at 5 p.m. on ESPN, while the club’s home opener is scheduled for October 10 when the Minnesota Wild visit at 6 p.m., a broadcast handled by Scripps.
