St. Lawrence University has appointed Luke van Galen as its new assistant coach for the men's soccer program, a move that will take effect at the start of the 2026 season.
A Brief Academic and Playing Background
Van Galen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from SUNY Cortland in May 2026, completing his studies while serving as a student assistant for the university's soccer team.
During his collegiate career he appeared in 22 games as a goalkeeper, posting a 12‑4‑2 record, five clean sheets and a .735 save percentage with a 1.25 goals‑against average.
Following graduation he moved into a student assistant role, helping design training sessions, prepare match plans and develop players both on and off the field.
Coaching Experience Beyond College
He previously coached training sessions and camps at the Seacoast United Soccer Club, and served as a Gameday Operations Intern for the Seacoast Phantoms in the USL League Two, where he oversaw logistics and coordinated staff for league events.
