Top Recruits and Their Commitments
The Des Moines Register has released its evaluation of the top 50 Iowa high school football prospects for the Class of 2026, a list compiled from film review, coach feedback and early college interest.
At the summit of that ranking sits Landon Blum of Woodbine, a receiver who amassed 1,049 yards and 24 touchdowns last season and has pledged to Penn State.
Close behind, Tate Wallace from Regina has signed with Minnesota after a defensive season that produced 49.5 tackles, 18 for loss and 8.5 sacks.
In Newton, Isaiah Hansen has committed to Iowa State, where he plans to add to his 1,337 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns from a 10‑2 campaign.
Grinnell’s Will Slagle, also headed to Iowa State, contributed both on the ground and through the air, helping his team compile 1,573 rushing yards and 752 passing yards as an offensive lineman.
The Next Wave of Talent
The Register notes that several of the state’s most coveted prospects have already chosen Iowa or Iowa State, while a handful of elite athletes in the 2027 cohort remain uncommitted, keeping the conversation alive for the next cycle.
Among those still weighing options is Savion Miller of Iowa City High, who holds offers from a spread of programs including Kent State, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri, Toledo and West Virginia.
The rankings draw a line between the very top tier of players and the broader pool of recruits, emphasizing that the list is a recruiting tool rather than a comprehensive player rating.
