The University of Arkansas announced the addition of Sean Williams, a graduate transfer from Dartmouth, after a federal court injunction extended eligibility to the 2022 high‑school recruiting class. The ruling allowed Williams to preserve a fifth year of collegiate competition, prompting the Razorbacks to target his defensive skill set for the upcoming campaign.
Williams arrives with an Ivy‑League pedigree that includes three consecutive All‑Ivy League selections from 2022 through 2025. In his senior season he earned first‑team honors with 31 tackles, four interceptions and eight passes defended, showcasing his ability to patrol both safety and nickel positions.
Across his Dartmouth career he amassed 160 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 11 interceptions and 22 passes defended, while also serving as a punt returner. He recorded 31 returns for 247 yards, highlighted by a 35‑yard long, and attracted attention from the Tennessee Titans during a post‑senior tryout.
During a recent practice session Williams was present on the field but remained in street clothes, underscoring that his integration is still a work in progress. He now joins a secondary that already features Caleb Wooden and a cadre of established players — including Christian Harrison, Miguel Mitchell, Kyeaure Magloire and Tay Lockett — who are expected to vie for snaps.
Coaches hope the blend of Ivy‑League experience and special‑teams savvy will tighten a defense that has faced questions entering the new schedule. Williams’ versatility and tackling prowess are viewed as key assets as Arkansas prepares for its first games of the season.
