The University of Maine's men's basketball team, known as the Black Bears, will begin its 2026‑27 campaign on January 2, 2026, when it hosts Bryant in the first conference showdown of the season. The schedule, released by the America East Conference, runs through March 2, when the Bears close out the regular season with a home game against the same opponent.
Opening Night and Early Matchups
After the season‑opening victory over Bryant, the Bears travel to face NJIT on January 7 before returning home to take on UMBC on January 9. Both games mark the first home‑and‑away series of the year and set the tone for a competitive schedule. The team will also host UMass Lowell on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 18, providing a marquee matchup that draws extra attention from fans and media alike.
Mid‑Season Road Trips
The Black Bears will embark on a series of road trips in February, beginning with a visit to UMass Lowell on February 4, followed by a game at UMBC on February 11, and concluding with a trip to NJIT on February 13. These contests will test the team's depth and resilience as they navigate a packed conference slate.
Final Stretch and Season Conclusion
After the road swing, Maine returns home to host Vermont on February 28, a game that precedes the regular‑season finale on March 2. The March 2 matchup against Vermont will be played on the Bears' home court, offering a chance for a strong finish to the campaign and a final opportunity for fans to see the team in action before the postseason.
