Bulldogs Name Co‑Captains for 2026‑27 Season
The University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey program announced that Caitlin Kraemer and Ida Karlsson will share the captaincy for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign, marking a new era of leadership for the Bulldogs.
Kraemer, who burst onto the scene as a sophomore, topped the team with 30 points, including 15 goals and 15 assists, and will bring a potent offensive spark to the roster.
Joining her, Karlsson, an Olympian and key member of the top defensive pairing, contributed 38 blocks over 30 games last season and now prepares to lead from the back line while competing in Sweden’s Women’s Euro Tour.
Supporting Leadership and Returning Talent
Eve Gascon, a two‑time All‑American and WCHA Goaltender of the Year, will serve as an alternate captain, adding veteran presence between the pipes.
Kate Kosobud, a Moorhead native who transferred from Minnesota, returns as the top scorer on the blue line and is expected to bolster the offense from the defensive zone.
The blend of Kraemer’s scoring, Karlsson’s defensive grit, Gascon’s goaltending excellence, and Kosobud’s experience creates a balanced leadership group aimed at contending for a national title.
Fans can look forward to seeing the co‑captains’ chemistry develop early in the season, as the Bulldogs open play against non‑conference opponents in October.
