Jaden Gales, a former standout for the Saint Vincent Bearcats, has taken his basketball ambitions overseas, signing a contract with BC Raiffeisen Flyers Wels of Austria’s Basketball Superliga. The move marks the latest step in a career that has already seen Gales distinguished by a series of accolades and statistical milestones.
A Dream Realized in the Austrian Capital
Gales joins fellow alumnus Mike Iuzzolino, who now competes for Club Roma SPQR in Italy’s top league, creating a trans‑Alpine connection between two of the program’s most successful exports. Both players share a background at Unity High School before moving on to Bishop Canevin High School, where Gales began to attract national attention.
During his college tenure, Gales amassed 1,466 points, ranking ninth in program history, and pulled down 677 rebounds over three seasons. As a senior he averaged 17.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.7% from the field, earning Presidents’ Athletic Conference newcomer and player‑of‑the‑year honors, All‑PAC first‑team selection, and NABC All‑District recognition.
Reflecting on the transition, Gales expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing the professional level as a fulfillment of a childhood dream. "Reaching this stage feels like the culmination of every early morning practice and every game I played growing up," he said, underscoring the personal significance of the milestone.
