A Georgia man has been charged with burglary and related offenses after breaking into the home of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle in North Carolina, just days after the family’s private plane went down in a fatal crash.
Terrell Williams, 44, was taken into custody in July 2026 after investigators linked him to the theft, which also involved the use of a radio‑frequency detector to locate security cameras. He now faces second‑degree burglary, safe cracking, money laundering and additional felonies.
What Was Stolen
According to the indictment, Williams made off with roughly $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, a collection of NASCAR memorabilia and a set of gold and silver coins before fleeing the scene.
The stolen cache also included a sophisticated device that allowed him to bypass the home’s alarm system, a detail that emerged during a separate police inquiry into a different burglary involving a hospital security officer.
Authorities say the suspect went further, using personal data from Biffle’s accounts on Venmo, PayPal and traditional banks to execute unauthorized transfers and issue fraudulent checks that spanned multiple states.
The tragedy that preceded the break‑in claimed the lives of Biffle, his wife and their two children on December 18, 2023, a crash that remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. The incident has left a trail of financial and personal losses that the suspect allegedly exploited.
