Tasha Smith has been appointed as the Ivy League Coordinator of Women’s Basketball Officials, a position that also extends to the Metro Conference. The appointment was highlighted by Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris, who cited Smith’s extensive background and reputation as ideal for serving coaches, administrators, and student‑athletes.
A Decade of Division I Expertise
Smith brings more than ten years of Division I officiating experience, having served in five NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championships and 19 different conferences, including the Ivy League, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC. Her officiating portfolio includes three NCAA Division II regional tournaments, nine conference championship assignments, and service as an alternate for the national championship game in 2018 and 2021.
Leadership in an Eight‑Conference Alliance
She will collaborate with Pualani Spurlock‑Welsh, ACC Supervisor of Officials, and coordinators from the ACC, American, BIG EAST, Atlantic 10, Big South, CAA, and Metro Conference. This alliance, which represents eight conferences, focuses on recruiting, training, evaluation, scheduling, development, and education of officials, aiming to identify, recruit, and retain high‑quality officials while optimizing geographic efficiency.
