Georgia Man Charged in Burglary Tied to Greg Biffle’s Home After Fatal Crash

Stolen cash, weapons and a fraudulent scheme emerged in the wake of a December 2023 private‑plane tragedy that claimed the NASCAR star and his family.

A 44‑year‑old resident of Cobb County, Georgia, identified as Terrell Williams, was taken into custody in early January after investigators linked him to a break‑in at the home of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.

A Shockwave After Tragedy

According to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, the intrusion yielded roughly $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, assorted NASCAR memorabilia and a collection of gold and silver coins that had been stored at Biffle’s residence.

A radio‑frequency detector was also recovered, indicating that Williams had deliberately searched for hidden security cameras while inside the property.

The theft was uncovered on January 8, 2024, just weeks after a private aircraft carrying Biffle and several family members crashed on December 18, 2023, killing all aboard; the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Beyond the physical loot, detectives uncovered a separate fraud scheme in which stolen personal data was used to gain unauthorized access to Biffle’s bank, Venmo and PayPal accounts, resulting in illicit transfers of funds to accounts in multiple states.

Williams now faces a slate of felonies, including second‑degree burglary, safe cracking, money laundering and related offenses, and law enforcement believes he may be connected to another burglary in Iredell County, North Carolina, that targeted a hospitalized law‑enforcement officer.

Legal Fallout and Ongoing Probe

Prosecutors have indicated they will seek a substantial prison term, citing the premeditated nature of the crimes and the exploitation of a family’s grief. Meanwhile, federal agents continue to trace the flow of stolen money and are cooperating with the NTSB to determine how the crash’s aftermath may have created opportunities for criminal activity.
