The Cheatham County Central boys soccer team saw its inaugural state tournament run conclude with a 6-0 defeat to Gatlinburg-Pittman in the Class A quarterfinals. The loss ended a ten-match unbeaten streak that had propelled the Cubs to the brink of history.
A Dominant First Half
Gatlinburg-Pittman struck early, finding the net in the sixth minute and extending the lead to 5-0 by halftime. The Highlanders outshot the Cubs 29-0, with Christofer Lanza contributing two goals and Alex Gibbs making several acrobatic saves before a heat-related injury forced his exit.
Looking Ahead
Coach Charlie Martin expressed pride in his players' effort, noting the seniors — Ryder Allen, Bennett Wilson, Aymin Tawadrous and Camilo Diaz — will be missed. He hopes the historic season will generate momentum for the program’s next chapter, while sophomore goalkeeper Alex Gibbs and junior Shia Fowler, who replaced Gibbs midway through the second half, gain valuable experience for future campaigns.
