A Strategic Homecoming
Charleston Southern University announced the appointment of Colton Everett as its new Assistant Basketball Coach, marking a homecoming for a coach who previously shaped the program from 2017 to 2021. The university highlighted Everett’s blend of offensive acumen and administrative experience as a key factor in the decision.
Everett’s recent years have been spent guiding the next generation at Ohio Dominican University and Malone University, where he helped both institutions achieve historic win totals and conference success. His tenure at Ohio Dominican culminated in a 19‑win season, the most in school history, while at Malone he contributed to back‑to‑back 18‑win campaigns and a runner‑up finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
Leadership Praise
Head Coach Saah Nimley praised Everett’s character, describing him as a blue‑collar worker with high integrity who will help elevate the program’s culture. Nimley emphasized that Everett’s offensive strategizing and player‑development philosophy align perfectly with the university’s ambitions.
Everett’s coaching journey began as a graduate assistant at Hawaii Pacific University, followed by academic pursuits that include a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a master’s in Elementary Education from Hawaii Pacific University. His educational background and diverse coaching experiences equip him to contribute across program administration, recruitment, and on‑court strategy.
