The University of Maryland announced its leadership group for the 2026‑27 women’s hockey season, naming four players as captains and alternates ahead of the team’s first game.
A blend of experience and youth
Senior defenseman Ida Karlsson will serve as one of the primary captains, bringing a blend of collegiate experience and international exposure after representing Sweden at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Joining her, junior forward Caitlin Kraemer has been selected as the other primary captain, a role that reflects her status as an All‑WCHA Third Team honoree and her knack for delivering game‑winning goals.
In net, senior goaltender Ève Gascon is named an alternate captain, a testament to her two‑time All‑American accolades and back‑to‑back WCHA Goaltender of the Year honors, having posted a 1.77 goals‑against average and 10 shutouts last season.
Junior defenseman Kate Kosobud rounds out the alternate captain group, having appeared in all 38 games a year ago and contributing two goals, eight assists and 40 blocked shots.
