Kellum Brown Commits to UNCW, Bringing 1,000‑Point Scoring Record

The New Hanover standout joins the UNCW roster as the program eyes a return to the NCAA Tournament

A Homecoming for a Rising Star

Kellum Brown, the 6‑foot‑5 wing who led New Hanover to a 107‑15 record, has officially signed with UNCW, the university that first captured his imagination as a child.

During his high school career he averaged 20.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, surpassing the 1,000‑point milestone while emerging as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder.

His longtime coach, Kirk Angel, who has guided the Wildcats since 2008, praised Brown’s blend of skill and character, noting that the player’s work ethic will translate well to the next level.

Head coach Takayo Siddle welcomed the addition, stating that Brown’s presence gives the team a versatile weapon as they chase a return to the NCAA Tournament.

Brown himself expressed excitement about playing close to home, describing his support system and his goals of gaining strength and playing with greater physicality in his freshman season.
