Albany High Flag Football Team Falls in Section 2 Semifinal

A 27‑12 loss to Shaker highlights both the Falcons’ grit and the standout performances of several key players.

A Game of Resilience

The Falcons entered the Section 2 Class A semifinal with high hopes, only to see their season end in a 27‑12 loss to Shaker. The final score reflected a tough defensive battle, but the team’s effort left a lasting impression.

Narai Danzy was the offensive catalyst, orchestrating the attack with 206 passing yards and adding 22 rushing yards. His dual-threat ability kept the Shaker defense guessing throughout the first half.

Janae Byrams contributed a 15‑yard receiving touchdown, finishing with 56 receiving yards and 31 rushing yards while also making five defensive stops. Aasett Taylor, equally versatile, scored a touchdown, amassed 73 receiving yards and contributed three defensive stops.

The defensive backs proved pivotal. Nalina Charles, Celena Walcott, Damarie Cooley and Jaya Stewart combined for 25 flags, with Walcott leading the way at nine. Stewart also recorded an interception in the opening quarter, while Janalee Campbell added five defensive stops and two quarterback sacks, underscoring the unit’s relentless pressure.

Looking Ahead

Coach and teammates alike praised the squad’s dedication, hard work and unwavering Falcon pride. Though the season concluded earlier than hoped, the players look forward to building on this experience in the 2026‑27 campaign.
