A 44‑year‑old man from Georgia has been taken into custody after authorities say he broke into the home of the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle in North Carolina, making off with nearly $30,000 in cash, two firearms and a collection of racing memorabilia. The alleged theft occurred in January, just days after Biffle’s fatal plane crash, and quickly escalated into a multi‑jurisdiction investigation.

According to Cobb County detectives, the suspect entered the Mooresville residence and removed a backpack containing the cash, two handguns and assorted NASCAR‑related items. Investigators later linked the stolen memorabilia to Williams after finding it in his possession during a July arrest.
Sheriff Darren Campbell of Iredell County confirmed that Williams was near Biffle’s property on the day of the burglary, though he stopped short of identifying him from surveillance footage.
