A New Chapter for Vermont Green FC
Vermont Green FC, the reigning USL League Two champions, are preparing to defend their title in 2026 with both a men’s and a women’s side, marking a historic expansion that reflects the club’s rising profile.
Head coach Chris Taylor will steer the men’s team, which blends a core of returning veterans — including captain Brandon Marshall and stalwarts such as Maximilian Kissel, David Ajagbe, Alex Hall, Gabriel Fernandez, Ryan Zellefrow, Niklas Herceg, Karl Daly, Nash Barlow, Halim Bangura, and Brio Levitt — with promising newcomers from the University of Vermont.
The women’s side, newly formed and led by Abby Carchio, will showcase a roster of top collegiate talent, featuring Sam Mewis, Sydney Remington, Lauren DeGroot, Ava Moore, Sydney Slusser, Farrah Yaacoub, and Louisa Thomsen, all of whom bring national experience to the pitch.
Both squads will call Virtue Field on the University of Vermont campus home, a venue that promises an intimate atmosphere and a unique fan experience; tickets purchased at the gate carry an extra $10 fee on a first‑come, first‑serve basis, and supporters without tickets can still catch the action behind the north goal from the fence.
The men’s home opener is scheduled for May 22, 2026 against Albany Rush, while the women’s debut follows on May 23, 2026 versus Hudson Valley Crusaders, kicking off a double‑header weekend that has already sparked excitement across the soccer community.
With a blend of home‑grown talent, international recruits, and a passionate fan base, Vermont Green FC aims to make 2026 another landmark year, building on the momentum of their August 2, 2025 championship triumph.
