Old Dominion University announced that two of its field hockey standouts, Josie Painter and Serena Langendoen, have been named to the Preseason All‑BIG EAST Team as the program gears up for the 2026 campaign.
Preseason Honors
Painter, a junior from Midlothian, Virginia, enters her final season after starting 16 games and contributing 12 points, including six goals. She also ranked eighth in the conference for game‑winning goals and was recognized on the BIG EAST All‑Academic Team.
Langendoen, a junior from Rotterdam, Netherlands, started all 18 matches last year and amassed 15 points through seven goals and an assist. Her statistical profile places her 13th in shots, 24th in goals and 21st in shots on goal across the league, and she too earned All‑Academic honors.
Both athletes were celebrated not only for their competitive impact but also for their scholarly performance, underscoring the program’s balance of athletics and academics.
ODU will open the season on August 28 against Ohio State, with the matchup scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff. The team received 23 first‑place votes in the preseason coaches’ poll, reflecting optimism within the conference.
Additional conference recognitions included Ava Borkowski of Villanova as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Dara Semmartin of Liberty as Defensive Player of the Year, adding further depth to the upcoming schedule.
