A Five-Star Commitment
Oluwasemilore Olubobola, a 6‑foot‑6, 295‑pound offensive tackle from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, has emerged as one of the most coveted prospects in the 2026 class. Rivals and major recruiting services have graded him as a five‑star talent, placing him as the No. 3 offensive tackle nationally and the top overall prospect in New Jersey.
During an online news conference on May 12, Olubobola revealed his non‑binding commitment to Notre Dame, selecting the Fighting Irish over finalists Miami and Texas A&M. The decision came after a recruitment that featured more than three dozen Power Four offers, including scholarships from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Oregon and Texas.
His choice adds a marquee name to a recruiting class that already includes four‑star tackle James Halter, top‑100 recruits Ace Alston and Xavier Hasan, and quarterback Wonderful (Champ) Monds IV. The influx of high‑rated signees positions Notre Dame to field one of its most talented offensive lines in recent memory.
The commitment also carries historical weight. Olubobola is projected to become the highest‑rated signee for the Irish since defensive end Rodney Dunham in 2026, echoing the legacy of former Notre Dame standouts such as Brandon Wimbush and Shayne Simon, who previously transferred after stints in South Bend.
Coach Joe Rudolph, who has been instrumental in shaping the Irish’s offensive line recruiting, welcomed the addition, noting that the class now stands at 15 commitments. The early signing period, expected to open in early December, will provide the final opportunity for prospects to formalize their plans.
