After a 7‑5 finish that saw the Skippers advance to the second round before falling to Neville, the Mandeville High football program is looking to build on a promising foundation as the 2026 campaign approaches.
Head coach Craig Jones, now in his fifth year at the helm, brings a career record of 30‑18 and a decade‑plus of experience from Lakeshore, where he compiled a 101‑53 mark. His steady presence has become a cornerstone of the team's identity.
Offensive coordinator Richard Guillot and defensive coordinator Chase Hammant round out a staff that blends veteran insight with fresh ideas. The returning starter at quarterback, sophomore Krew Collura, will have the benefit of experienced targets in receivers Luke Demelo and Jake Jacketti, while the offensive line features sophomore Derland Wells alongside veterans Max Johnston and Roman Holcombe.
Defensively, the Skippers rely on edge rushers Jeffrey Evans and Bennett Boogaerts, interior anchors Aaron Gerberg and Colby Ryan, and seasoned linebacker Caeden Martin paired with safety Dylan Henry. Their combined experience should help shore up a unit that has faced its share of setbacks.
Challenging Schedule Ahead
The slate includes tough matchups against Covington in week six and St. Paul’s in week eight, games that will likely influence the team's final seeding. Analysts project a 4‑8 seed in the D‑I nonselect playoffs, a position that could still open a path to a semifinal run if the Skippers hit their stride.
Injuries have been a recurring theme, notably Nate Sheppard’s leg issue in 2024 and Ben Hendricks’ setback last season. The coaching staff is emphasizing conditioning and depth to reduce risk as the season progresses.
