The Piner Prospectors finished the 2025 high school football season with a 2-8 record, placing fourth in the Redwood Empire Conference – Mountain and missing the postseason. The loss marked a stark contrast to the previous year, when the team posted an 8-3 record before a playoff berth slipped away.
A Rebuilding Year
Head coach Adam Rosenstein, now in his third season, has overseen the transition from a junior varsity background to leading the varsity squad. Rosenstein emphasizes belief in the returning seniors and cites a more level playing field in the league as a catalyst for optimism.
The offense will be anchored by senior quarterback Kam Kerr Cobb, who is expected to take the first snap under center. Cobb will be supported by a veteran offensive line that includes Lucian Wee, EJ Magana and junior Jaden Fata, who will also see time on defense.
Key returning seniors such as running back Blake Moran, wide receiver Charlie Brem and linebacker Elias Varela Cardelas give the team depth at skill positions. New additions to the backfield include junior running back Elias Varela Cardelas and wide receiver Kingston Klaut, who are expected to add fresh dynamism.
The schedule features a mix of local rivals and regional opponents, including Maria Carrillo, Willits, Santa Rosa, Sonoma Valley, Justin-Siena, Archie Williams, Healdsburg, Terra Linda and Novato. The addition of Montgomery and Justin-Siena, both of which struggled in tougher leagues last year, may further open opportunities for Piner to compete.
Coach Rosenstein’s confidence is rooted in the belief that the team’s experience, combined with a more balanced conference, could translate into a winning record and a return to the playoffs. The prospects of a stronger rushing attack, led by Cobb and a solid offensive line, form the core of the offensive strategy.
