Rapid Police Action Prevents Tragedy
Rincon police responded to a call early Tuesday afternoon at the Towne Park West Drive complex, where a 57‑year‑old man began smashing cars and breaking into apartments with a baseball bat.
The suspect, later identified as Bryan Fox, damaged at least two vehicles and forced entry into units near Building 1100, creating a scene that police described as rapidly evolving and potentially dangerous.
Fox attempted to ignite a small fire inside his apartment and even tried to cause an explosion, but the effort failed and no injuries were reported.
Using tasers, officers were able to subdue the individual within minutes, preventing any harm to residents or first responders. Chief Jonathon Murrell praised the quick, professional response that averted a lethal outcome.
Fox was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation before being booked on multiple felony counts. Prosecutors have indicated that a series of charges will be filed as the investigation proceeds.
