The University of Massachusetts Amherst has revealed its leadership cadre for the upcoming 2026‑27 men’s ice hockey season, naming a quartet of players who will wear the coveted “A” on their jerseys.
Captains Ready to Lead the Minutemen
Senior forward Jack Musa and sophomore defenseman Coleson Hanrahan have been selected as captains, while veterans Larry Keenan and Cam O’Neill will serve as alternate captains, a decision that underscores the coaching staff’s confidence in their experience and character.
Musa, a 2025‑26 CCM/AHCA Hockey Second Team All‑American, capped his junior year with 36 points, including 16 goals and 20 assists, and is expected to anchor the offense with his playmaking vision.
Hanrahan, a Longmeadow native, burst onto the scene as a rookie, appearing in 31 games and contributing 18 blocked shots and four assists, a defensive presence that complements his growing offensive confidence.
Both Keenan and O’Neill bring a blend of grit and skill; Keenan, a first‑time Hockey East All‑Star, logged 19 points with a plus‑eight rating in all 36 games last season, while O’Neill added 14 points through a mix of five goals and nine assists over 32 contests.
Head coach Greg Carvel emphasized that the selections were driven by a combination of on‑ice performance, work ethic and the ability to embody the team’s identity, stating that the quartet will be tasked with steering the Minutemen toward a competitive and cohesive campaign.
