The 2026 Little League Baseball® Region Tournaments have set a new benchmark for audience engagement, drawing an average of 632,000 viewers across ESPN and ESPN2. That figure represents a 22 percent jump from the previous year and marks the highest average since the sport’s viewership peak in 2009.
A Game for the Ages
The Metro Region Championship that pitted Darien, Conn., against Bayonne, N.J., on Aug. 14 captured 1.2 million viewers on average, with a peak of 1.3 million during the most intense moments. That broadcast ranks as the third‑most‑watched Little League Region game in history.
Not far behind, the West Region Championship between Kapa’a, Hawaii, and Bonita, Calif., also on Aug. 14 attracted about 1.0 million viewers, placing it seventh on the all‑time viewership list and underscoring the tournament’s growing national appeal.
World Series Coverage Underway
ESPN’s exclusive coverage of the 2026 Little League Baseball® World Series, presented by T‑Mobile, kicked off on Aug. 19 in Williamsport, Pa. The slate will feature 38 games spread across ESPN, ESPN2, ABC and Disney+, with the championship game scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 30, on ABC.
The surge in viewership reflects a broader resurgence of interest in youth baseball, as families and communities rally around the sport’s tradition and competitive spirit. Industry analysts note that the combination of regional rivalries and the high‑stakes World Series format has helped attract both long‑time fans and new audiences.
Looking Ahead
As the tournament progresses, the record‑breaking numbers set a strong foundation for future editions, suggesting that Little League Baseball continues to capture the imagination of a wide‑ranging audience. Networks are already planning expanded coverage and digital streaming options to build on this momentum.
