Bishop Amat High School, a private Catholic school in La Puente, California, found itself at the center of a controversy when several football players shared a social media photograph that included a whiteboard bearing profanity-laced threats directed at a rival athlete from St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs.
Investigation Launched
The disturbing image, which quickly circulated online, displayed the word "kill" alongside the targeted player's name, prompting immediate concern among parents and school administrators. Southern California News Group obtained copies of the photos, confirming that two Bishop Amat players posed beside the inflammatory whiteboard.
Athletic director Tish Price and head coach Kory Minor publicly acknowledged the players' involvement, stating that the school would conduct its own inquiry and pursue appropriate corrective actions. The Los Angeles Archdiocese released a statement confirming that the matter had been reported to law enforcement, which later determined that no criminal intent was present and returned the case to the school for further handling.
Community Response
Parents of the targeted St. Paul student sought a formal response from Bishop Amat, urging the administration to address what they described as bullying and intimidation on social media. The father of the targeted player did not respond to requests for comment, while St. Paul's first‑year coach, Austin Montoya, declined to comment on the incident.
