A Test on the Road
Morehead State’s soccer program opened its season with a dominant performance, defeating Brescia 2‑0 at home. The Eagles fired 41 shots, 20 of them on target, and kept a clean sheet, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive solidity.
The next challenge arrives on Thursday evening when the Eagles travel to Oxford, Ohio, to meet the Miami RedHawks. Miami, still searching for its first victory, fell 3‑0 to Xavier in their opener, leaving them 0‑1 on the young campaign.
Historically, the two sides have met ten times, with Miami holding an 8‑2 edge and no ties. The last encounter, a 1‑0 win for Morehead State in September 2025, remains the only triumph the Eagles have recorded against the RedHawks.
Head coach Paul Cox acknowledges the quality of his upcoming opponent, noting that Miami plays a different style of soccer. ‘They’re a well‑coached team,’ Cox said, ‘and we’ll need to adapt to the conditions at Bobby Kramig Field.’
Sophomore forwards Olivia Lowe and Kennedy Harmon were the goal‑scorers in the Brescia match, each finding the net in the 2‑0 victory. Their contributions will be crucial as the Eagles look to translate home success into a road win.
Miami’s lone goal in the loss to Xavier was credited to senior Hannah Carter, assisted by Charlotte Lee. The RedHawks hope to rally around that moment and finally break their winless streak.
