The University of Arkansas athletics department has announced a collaboration with Diamond Sports Alliance to stage a series of fall exhibition games for both baseball and softball, using the events as a platform to fund Name, Image and Likeness compensation for the Razorbacks.
Fall Exhibition Series Aims to Boost Fan Access and Player Compensation
Scheduled for September 18 and October 23, the showcase will feature intrasquad contests as well as matchups against Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Little Rock and Dallas Baptist, providing fans with rare opportunities to see the teams in action outside the regular season.
Ticket pricing begins at $17 for baseball games and $11 for softball, with premium packages priced at $27 and $63 respectively; a network of seventeen sponsors will distribute tickets, and select passes will be offered free of charge to students and school groups through the alliance’s sponsorship channels.
Beyond the competition, the series includes outreach activities such as autograph sessions at Bogle Park and Baum‑Walker Stadium, designed to deepen community ties and give supporters direct access to the players.
Athletes will amplify the events on social media, a strategy that not only drives attendance but also creates additional revenue streams that can be allocated to NIL payments, aligning with the alliance’s broader mission of sustaining college sports in a competitive compensation landscape.
Matt Hobbs, Arkansas pitching coach, highlighted the importance of fan engagement and strategic partnerships, noting that innovative models like this are essential for the future of collegiate athletics amid evolving NIL dynamics.
The initiative also reflects the strong recruiting classes entering the program, with the baseball team’s 2025 transfer portal class ranked seventh nationally and the softball squad’s cohort positioned second behind Texas Tech, underscoring the program’s growing talent pipeline.
Courtney Deifel, head coach of the Razorbacks’ softball team, will see her squad host Tulsa on October 3 and Oklahoma State on October 17, while the baseball team’s schedule includes home games against Little Rock and Dallas Baptist on the same dates.
The concept draws inspiration from Arkansas’ spring football game, which was sponsored by The LinkU and offered free tickets to students and foundation members, a model that Diamond Sports Alliance hopes to replicate for baseball and softball.
Overall, the fall exhibition series aims to blend competitive play, community outreach and financial innovation, offering a blueprint for how collegiate programs can leverage exhibition events to support player development and enrich the fan experience.
