Kentucky Football announced this week that Alex Brown will join the program as its new assistant general manager, a move that follows the recent elevation of Pete Nochta to general manager after Pat Biondo’s exit.
Brown arrives with a résumé that spans both college and professional scouting, having spent years dissecting game film, charting plays and crunching statistics to identify talent.
His career includes stints as an NFL scout for the Atlanta Falcons, director of player personnel at Ole Miss, and director of scouting at SMU earlier this year, as well as a role at Rice University where he oversaw recruiting and served as the program’s NFL liaison.
Before entering collegiate athletics, Brown served as head central scout for Optimum Scouting in Texas, where he led a team that evaluated prospects through a blend of visual analysis and data‑driven metrics.
A strategic addition to the front office
Will Stein, the head coach steering Kentucky’s offensive vision, highlighted the hire as a key piece of the program’s front‑office overhaul, noting that Brown’s expertise will help shape the roster moves that align with the team’s long‑term goals.
Brown’s appointment underscores Kentucky’s intent to blend traditional scouting instincts with modern analytical approaches, a combination that could accelerate the program’s competitiveness in the SEC.
