Utah’s women’s soccer program celebrated a milestone as senior goalkeeper Anna Solomon was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week after an unbeaten opening stretch that featured two shutouts.
A historic start for Utah soccer
Solomon backstopped the Utes to a 0‑0 draw against Weber State, producing a leaping deflection that preserved the clean sheet, and then helped secure a 2‑0 victory over Utah Valley with four crucial saves.
Her performances have made her the first Utah goalkeeper in more than ten years to begin a season with back‑to‑back shutouts, and she is the inaugural player from the program to capture the conference’s weekly award.
The achievement places Solomon alongside past honorees such as Carly Nelson, who earned the same recognition in 2019, and marks the fourth time a Utah keeper has opened a campaign with consecutive clean sheets in school history.
With the early momentum, the Utes look to build on the defensive foundation as they head into the remainder of their schedule, aiming to translate this historic start into a competitive season.
