Archbishop Spalding High School has named RB Green as its new head football coach, replacing a tenured leader after more than ten years at the helm.
The Cavaliers have built a storied legacy, capturing four straight Conference A championships and posting a 53‑6 record over the past five seasons, a benchmark that the school hopes to sustain.
Green, who most recently served as an assistant at the Naval Academy, steps into the high school arena for the first time, expressing confidence that his experience will translate into continued success.
Senior Leadership Takes the Reins
Central to the new coach’s philosophy is the empowerment of senior players, who are seen as the keepers of the program’s standards and the drivers of its collective identity.
Seniors such as Roger Bredenkamp and Brandon Hicks have described the transition as smooth, noting that their leadership will help preserve the team’s rigorous expectations.
Myles McAfee, a Maryland commit and senior wide receiver, echoed this sentiment, saying the squad’s ethos is built on teamwork rather than individual accolades.
Brock Frisby, a Virginia Tech commit and defensive lineman, highlighted the added motivation of chasing a championship this year, especially in the wake of recent coaching changes and the departure of key graduates.
The program’s rallying cry, “Toughest team in Maryland,” encapsulates its competitive spirit and the emphasis on unity as the team looks to extend its winning streak.
