Rich Hofman, a coach whose name is synonymous with excellence in Florida high school baseball, has accepted a position on the staff at Coffee High School. With 1,020 career wins and 12 state titles, his record stands as the benchmark for success in the sport.
The Hofball Philosophy
His approach, known as Hofball, centers on discipline, fundamentals and relentless preparation, a philosophy he has refined over a career that includes four national championships and membership in eight coaching halls of fame.
Joining him is Scott Grove, the current head coach at Coffee High, who brings his own impressive résumé of 596 wins and a Florida state title, creating a partnership that promises a combined tally of more than 1,600 victories and 13 state championships.
Together they aim to elevate the Coffee Trojans program by instilling a culture of work ethic, teamwork and accountability, ensuring that each player maximizes his potential through structured instruction.
Hofman’s influence extends beyond the diamond; his memoir, *Coach of the Decade: Rich Hofman*, outlines the principles that have guided his teams, and he has mentored 67 players who earned Major League Baseball draft selections, including two first‑round picks, Alex Rodriguez and Doug Mientkiewicz.
He believes that success in baseball is rooted in fundamentals and commitment to the system, regardless of a player’s natural talent, a stance that shapes the daily drills and long‑term development plans for the Trojans.
