Thomas Darcy Joins the Trois‑Rivières Lions
Thomas Darcy, a 24‑year‑old defenseman from Terrebonne, Quebec, has signed a contract with the Trois‑Rivières Lions for the 2026‑27 ECHL season, the team announced on Tuesday. The move adds a player who has already accumulated extensive experience at the junior, professional and international levels.
Darcy’s junior career unfolded in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he played for the Moncton Wildcats and the Quebec Remparts. He was a pivotal member of the Remparts’ Memorial Cup championship team in 2022‑23, recording 15 goals and 23 assists in 94 regular‑season games and contributing crucial defensive minutes during the tournament.
Before joining the Lions, Darcy spent the 2025‑26 season in the LNAH with the Pétroliers de Laval and in Slovakia with HK Skalica, gaining exposure to different styles of play and competitive environments. He then pursued his studies at the University of Guelph, where he continued to develop both athletically and academically.
The Lions’ management highlighted Darcy’s size, reliability in his own zone and ability to contribute offensively from the back end. They noted that his background in high‑pressure situations, including a Memorial Cup title, should help the club push for a playoff spot and provide depth for the organization’s affiliate relationship with the Montreal Canadiens.
