Athletic Facility Upgrade
The Troy City Schools Board of Education recently voted to upgrade the baseball and softball fields at Charles Henderson High School, approving a $5.14 million contract with Whaley Construction. The improvements will include new concession stands and a synthetic turf surface.
The board also approved the TEAMS contract that will govern district operations for the 2026‑2027 school year, establishing the financial framework for the upcoming term.
Personnel Changes
In staffing news, the district announced several new hires, including Trotter Sikes as an ISS aide at Troy Elementary, Laurie Lynn as a part‑time intervention instructor, Elizabeth Ann Courtney as band teacher at Charles Henderson Middle, Jake Jackson as assistant principal at the same campus, and Gabrielle Wood as a special education teacher at Charles Henderson High, all effective in August.
Resignations were accepted for Rahman Bell, who stepped down as assistant principal at Charles Henderson Middle effective August 28, and Sarah Carlson, who resigned as art teacher at the same school effective August 18.
Stipends were approved for Mitchell Jones, Emma Fluker, Alyne Scarbrough and Dr. Amelia Jackson across various district schools, and Wendy Sammons’ contract as principal of Charles Henderson Middle was extended through July 14.
These decisions reflect the board’s commitment to enhancing athletic infrastructure while addressing staffing needs across the district, positioning Troy City Schools for a strong start to the 2026‑2027 academic year.
