Karley Nelson, who spent ten seasons as an assistant under Heather Dyke, was officially introduced as the fifth head coach in University of New Mexico women's soccer history. Nelson inherits a squad that finished the previous season with a strong defensive identity and a roster packed with experience. Three Lobo standouts — Nicole Anderson, Fiona Jenkins and Alysa Whelchel — earned spots on the Mountain West preseason watch list, underscoring the individual talent that will anchor the side. The 2026 slate features early tests at Colorado, Wyoming and Hawaii, as well as road trips to Greeley, Boulder, Laramie and Phoenix, culminating in a season‑opening clash with Northern Arizona on August 20 at 7 p.m. local time.
