The watchlist, which highlights the most outstanding college players of Polynesian ancestry, recognizes Afalava not only for his statistical dominance but also for the integrity and leadership he brings to the field.

During the 2025 campaign Afalava logged 290 tackles, 57 tackles‑for‑loss and a career‑high 25.5 sacks, ranking him eighth among ACC pass‑rushing linemen according to Pro Football Focus.
His impact was most evident in Wake Forest’s upset victory over No. 19 Virginia, where he recorded six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, sealing a win that propelled the team into postseason play.
